ASKED QUESTIONS

Interested in working together, but have some questions? Check out our frequently asked questions (and answers!) below. If your question isn’t answered here, please don’t hesitate to reach out..

Q: Do you only work with people of a certain size?

A: I work with REAL people of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Some are size 0, some size 14, some Petites and some 22W (and everything in between). Because, this is the deal, dressing to optimize your figure is just an optical illusion. NO ONE has a “perfect” figure, not even movie stars and models, they just know (or are advised) what to wear to play up the positives and create that proportional balance. I’m kind of a nerd and love figuring out the puzzle of what styles, shapes, colors, and fabrics will do that for you!

Q: Where do you shop?

A: I’m an independent stylist and not affiliated with any particular store (and I don’t receive commission or kickbacks) – so I am your advocate and will take you to stores (both in person and virtually) I think will be a good match for your budget, body, taste, and life. Sometimes that’s department stores, sometimes boutiques, sometimes thrift stores or consignment. I shop both online and in-person. I don’t discriminate! BUT before we do any retail shopping we SHOP YOUR CLOSET FIRST because that’s where the magic begins to happen.

Q: Do the tips on your blog take the place of working with you?

A: In my blog, I try to share practical advice and shopping links based on questions and issues that have come up in client sessions. Sign up to have it delivered to your inbox ! But that information is for a general audience. While, for some people that might be enough, for others, the one-on-one, personalized approach is what allows for the most significant results.

Q: Are you going to critique my clothes ?

A: NO WAY!!! Although this profession requires a critical eye , my intention is never to make you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed of your current situation. My approach is respectful and courteous at all times. My approach is respectful and courteous at all times.

Q: Do you only work with people that have big budgets?

A: Again, NO! I charge or my services and that’s the same across the board no matter what you spend on clothing. I work with clients with a vast range of budgets, and I’m just as happy shopping at Goodwill, T.J. Maxx and Target, as I am at Saks and Chanel. (Ok, there is a special thrill walking into Chanel, I can’t lie, but it’s for sure not a prerequisite for working together.)

Q: I’m not currently at my desired weight and want to lose 5-10 lbs. Should I wait to work with you?

A: The definite answer is NO! I mean, you need to get dressed every day, right? Whether those pesky pounds come off, or not. And the reality is that our shape and proportions generally stay the same regardless of those few pounds (clothing size may change but the rules around what works for your body type and what doesn’t will remain constant.)

Q: Can we keep this private? I don’t want anyone to know I’m working with you…

A: Of course! It’s your business to share , not mine. Although , I will ask at the end of every fulfillment , if you are willing to be posted on my social media channels for means of promotion. But by all means, you can certainly decline ! Nothing specific to you will be uploaded without your prior consent.

Q: Will this cost me a lot of money?

A: So, working with me does require an investment in yourself, of both time and money. Generally speaking, packages start at $50. And can go anywhere upwards of 1000$. Please review my services page to get an idea of the package that might be right for you. That being said, some things can be customized. I always recommend signing up for a complementary discovery phone call, where we can talk about your specific needs and see if it’s a good match.

Q: What if my style doesn’t jive with your style?

A: Totally fair concern. My job is to help you find and embrace YOUR personal style, not mine. I work with people that are preppy, romantic, classic, artsy, edgy, trendy – really ALL DIFFERENT STYLES. I take into account what you’re innately drawn to, as well as your lifestyle and budget and, together, we develop your personal style statement. It’s kind of like a mission statement for an organization, brief and to the point, and it guides you when you’re shopping and getting dressed. It also helps guide me to make sure I’m hitting the mark when styling outfits for you.

Q: “I don’t want you to see my closet, it’s such a mess and I’m embarrassed about what I have in my closet.”

A: The bottom line, this is a NO JUDGEMENT ZONE. Truth be told, Everyone has different goals for working together, as well as different thresholds for organization. My job is to help you attain those goals NOT to judge what they are or where you’re starting .

Q: Do you work with people virtually? Via Zoom or FaceTime?

A: YES! I offer kick a** virtual styling services. Anywhere you are, if you have internet you have a stylist. It’s styling without borders! And I’m always happy to accommodate if you prefer other means of communication.
